2013 Applause Award

On Monday, May 6, 2013, members of the Community Youth Camp Board and representatives of Camp with a Cop gathered at the Perry County Chamber of Commerce located in Tell City.  These individuals received an award from the Chamber of Commerce called the Applause Award on behalf of Glenn Wood Hills Camp and Retreat Center.  This award was presented for providing the opportunity for youth of Perry County to have a camping experience at the campground and for providing service to the community.

2024 Camp With A Cop

Glenn Wood Hills Camp & Retreat Center and the Kentucky Indiana Mission Center are proud supporters of Perry County's "Camp with a Cop"
Perry County FOP 137's Camp With a Cop Mission: To operate a camp for children, where they can receive wholesome recreation, moral, physical, mental, cultural and civil training based upon ethics, values and respect for law enforcement and the criminal justice system.

Citizenship

This program utilizes educational and recreational activities to create trust and understanding between police officers and youth. It is based on the conviction that young people - if they are reached early enough - can develop strong positive attitudes towards police officers in their journey through life toward the goal of maturity and good citizenship.

Positive Influence

The Perry County Fraternal Order of Police Youth Camp “Camp with a Cop” brings youth under the supervision and positive influence of law enforcement and expands their awareness about the role of a police officer and the reinforcement of the responsible values and attitudes instilled in young people by their parents. Such respect is beneficial to the youth, the police officer, the neighborhood and the community.

Friendships

The Perry County Fraternal Order of Police Youth Camp “Camp with a Cop” strives to connect our youth and law enforcement and the criminal justice system in a positive way with character building tools to deter juvenile crime and violence; as well as, create interest in possibly getting involved law enforcement later in life.
